SUNDAY NIGHT AT DODGER STADIUM, PART II
Aug. 12th, 2014 07:03 pm![[personal profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/user.png)
There was a lot of trouble getting an Angelino audience into the stadium on time. We're not the most prompt denizens of a city in the world. It was well after 8 p.m. (the start time) and the stadium was still not full. But then, Joe Walsh, his wife Marjorie Bach, Ringo's wife Barbara Bach, and Jeff Lynne all arrived to sit 2 rows behind us just as the show was going to start. It happened so fast we only got a fuzzy picture of Joe Walsh. Jeff Lynne sat down so fast and disappeared in the crowd. Sadly, no photo of him.
ANYWAY....

The surprises weren't over yet. Soon, Lady McCartney herself was there! You can also see Barbara Bach standing next to her in this shot.

I also saw someone who looked a lot like Tom Petty - he was about 4 rows behind us - but without being incredibly rude, we couldn't have taken his picture because he was looking right at us. At this point, as you can see on everyone's face, there was a great deal of anticipation. It was now 8:30 p.m., a half hour late.

Alex shot this with out a zoom. It is amazing how much further away they look in this picture, but Alex said he wanted to get the whole stage. Here they are doing "Eight Days a Week." He followed it up with "Save Us" and "All My Loving". (The teenage girl on the other side of me swooned.)

So this is after the "only costume change", and he was doing some crazy lead guitar: Let Me Roll It followed by Foxy Lady. I love how he has always kept time with his arm like this - he has done this since the Beatles, and probably the clubs. So cute.

"My Valentine" and absolutely gorgeous graphic movie of Johnny Depp and Natalie Portman, two of my son's favorite actors. No wonder this photo was so lovingly taken. :) Unfortunately for us, Paul is just a white beam of light behind the piano. :(

This is very blurry but too cute to leave out. He was about to get sent up on a moving launch into the stratosphere to sing "Blackbird" and "Here Today". There was a "Super Moon" that night - YOU HAVE TO READ THIS PART - this means a full moon that due to its proximity to the earth is incredibly bright. After he sang Blackbird, he pointed up to the sky and there it was - a huge bright orb. He said - "It's John!" And he sang "Here Today."

This isn't the moon, by the way, it is a spotlight. But how amazingly appropriate. He is singing "Here Today."

In these two photos (above and below) he was chatting with us - making fun of the signs. One sign said "Sign my butt". He read it off and said, "Ok, give us a look..." He noted another mother/daughter team who were in the row behind me with a sign that said "Sign my Mom", and later on (near the very end) they were invited on stage. The mother just stood there frozen in front of him and the guy behind me yelled, "Quick! Breathe!" to her. Paul heard it and laughed. Turns out the daughter already had a tattoo on her wrist (more Super Fans!), so he signed the mother's wrist, and she was just about to faint. Anyway, back to chronological (I hope) report. (Oh by the way - look at that beautiful hand!)

Reading signs.

Lady Madonna - the visuals were an incredible series of famous and accomplished women.

I should probably crop this one - he's doing Band On the Rund - but the young woman's hair in front of me kind of fills out the frame (she is another 20 -something, who came by herself, who has followed McCartney around. I had no idea!)

He was asking "Let's hear it for George!" as he brought out the ukelele George gave him. Then he sang "Something". It was extremely moving. I've heard it many times before, but in person it is really moving, especially since he has beautiful pictures of himself and George flashing on the video screen behind him throughout.

I titled this picture "Oh My My My", and you can see why! Lord, he looks so bleeping young! How does he do it? Especially this close up? And with a crummy camera phone and no editing or photoshopping whatsoever? NOT FAIR!!!!
MOVING TO PART III OF MY POST....
