So glad you enjoyed it! I sometimes write these chapters that seem to go over like a lead balloon, when I'm trying to develop other characters in order to give more depth to the John/Paul relationship. I'm grateful if I can connect with at least a few readers - it means a lot to me!
Interesting comment about your friend at work. I've felt for some time that Paul was very insecure about people liking him, and so he tried to suppress his natural joyful and playful nature. A lot of this was down to John Lennon monitoring him and embarrassing him publicly when he let his own enthusiasm shine through. Paul was very watchful and controlled by 1966 - but he was a breath of joyful fresh air in the early '60s.
