Paul: Hated, or Not Hated?
Feb. 14th, 2014 03:49 pmAs an American, I am confused by the claim that Paul is hated in England. Always someone else from England chimes in and says that it isn't true. I have recently read British newspaper articles about Paul that seemed fair and even somewhat flattering; other than commenting on his voice and hair - and it's been about 2 years since then - I haven't heard anything that negative, and I regularly read the on line versions of British newspapers. The negative comments I see on websites seem to be from long-term Paul haters and trolls. We have more than our share of these on this side of the Atlantic too, but I wouldn't say America hates Paul.
Is this "England Hates Paul" thing just a matter of opinion, based on who you talk to?
Some of us on JHP (not all, but some of us) do not like criticism of Paul because we feel that he has had more than his fair share heaped on him over the years while the other three often get off light for their equal or even worse behavior. Because this is true, I theorize, I am a little over-sensitive about non-objective criticism, and I tend to remember the negative things people say about him rather than the neutral or positive things. Is it possible that some of us over-exagerate the existence of Paul-hostility as a result? Is it possible that it isn't quite as bad as we think it is?
Just wondering what you all think of this subject.
