Last Year's Echo, Chapter 4-A, "I've Got a Feeling"

1961.  This is the pivotal year for the Beatles, but also for John and Paul.  It is a year full of ups and downs, near misses, and full bull's-eyes.   There are six parts to this Chapter, and lots of exciting things happen in this chapter.

As usual, this is FICTION.  I have made up scenarios, which I hope aren't too far off what might have happened, and I provide an alternate version of the whole John-Paul-Stu triangle.  Modestly, I think mine is closer to the truth than Philip Norman's.  In fact, I think Philip Norman, with access to the same info I have, has embroidered the John-Stu relationship in a way that is not supported by the evidence, even as mine isn't.  So, we're equally right or wrong!

Hope you enjoy!

Last Year's Echo, Chapter 3-C "Rock in Roll Music"

So, here is chapter 3-C, so we're caught up now.   Chapter 3 covers 1959-1960, and by now we're in 1960.

Again, THIS IS ENTIRELY FICTIONAL, although based very loosely on things that probably did happen, more or less, in real life.

Last Year's Echo, Chapter 3-B

Sorry about the delay in posting chapter 3-B.   I thought I'd post two chapters, 3-B and 3-C to make up for last week.  :)  In chapter 3-B, we pick up from the argument in the pub between John and Paul about taking the band "too seriously."

WARNING: While there are some similarities between what probably happened in real life, this story is ENTIRELY FICTIONAL otherwise.

Hope you enjoy.

Last Year's Echo, Chapter 2-C "Enter Paul"

John's Chapter 2 completes with this post, chapter 2-C.  George Harrison is introduced to John, and then John's mother dies.  John starts Art College and meets two people who will figure largely in his life:  Stu Sutcliffe and Cynthia Powell.  Paul will be left feeling marginalized...

Hope you will enjoy this ENTIRELY FICTIONAL AU Lennon memoir.  :)

THIS IS ALL FICTION.  I MADE IT UP.

Last Year's Echo, Chapter 1-A

I've had a request to post the next chapter of the AU Memoir of AU John Lennon.  (Did I mention this was AU?)  The first full chapter of this make believe memoir addresses the subject of "Mother."

Hope you enjoy.

WARNING:  PLEASE REMEMBER THIS IS FICTIONAL.  Just droplets of real factoids, but mainly I just made it all up!

Last Year's Echo, Preface Part II

So this is the darker second part of the fictional Lennon memoir.   Thanks to Gibson for some interesting insights!

WARNING:  THIS IS FICTION.  There may be some facts that are tied to reality, but the whole thing is FICTIONAL.  There is some disturbing and controversial content in this chapter.  While there has been rumors about it percolating on the Internet, I have no inside knowledge and as far as I'm concerned I made it all up.  Any resemblance to true facts - I assure you - are entirely accidental!  I just want to tell a compelling fictional AU story.

Last Year's Echo, Preface, Part I

Well, here is where I go big or go home! Hope this works.

So this purports to be the first part of the Preface of AU John's memoir.  Early childhoods explained by an ersatz John Lennon.  Forgive me the liberties I take.  The detail I've added, beyond what you can find on the Internet or the biographies, is pure fiction, but I hope this helps to drive the story while still being believable.  :)  For example, I have no idea if John's mother had a mental illness, although based on what I've read about her, it seems highly likely to me.  I also tarted up John's early school years to fill in detail and make them more pitiful.  For the story's sake.  But I do base it on John's own general comments about his miserable school years.

A reminder:  when the story moves from part of the "memoir" to 'present day' - meaning late 2005 - the present day stuff will be in italics.

WARNING:  THIS IS FICTIONAL:  Drops of reality surrounded by a sea of fiction!

Last Year's Echo, Foreword

In this chapter of LYE, John receives the reviews of his book, and we get a first glimpse at the book through the Foreword.  John also appears on Charlie Rose to promote his book.

WARNINGS:  THIS IS ALL FICTION!!!!!!   I made it all up.  I hope you enjoy.

Last Year's Echo, Prolog

So here is the Prolog to the new series:  Last Year's Echo, which is the purported name of AU John Lennon's memoir.  The story has jumped from New Year's 2002 to Mid-2005.  In the ensuing 3 years, AU John has been writing the memoir, and now it is close to publication time.  John is ambivalent and stressed.  I have used this title before as the name of the first album AU John and Paul released after they renewed their creative partnership.  It is a line from one of John's solo songs, Bless You, on the 1973 album Walls and Bridges.

In this series we will bounce from the present day (2005) to the Memoir.  It's tricky.  After the first few chapters, where I set the situation up, in order to indicate when the story is in present day, I will place those sections in italic font.  The "Memoir" will therefore be non-italic.

Please know that I ghostwrote AU John's "Memoir" and I have taken a number of artistic licenses as the story progresses.  I add stories and anecdotes that I made up from whole cloth, I interpret events we know happened in a way that services the story, and I did try for the most part to stick to the proper timeline.  But I'm not a historian, and I had to rely on a lot of Internet information and some or all of it may be wrong.  I'm hoping people won't hold me to the little errors I make in this regard - I didn't want reality to get in the way of a good story!!!!!  (I hate when that happens.)  I'm also not British, so I may use improper terminology now and then.  I tried to cross check myself through research, but I'm sure I got a few things wrong.  I don't mind if you point them out so I can edit the stories, but I figure if we get too lost in those kind of details it must mean the story itself isn't compelling enough to hold the reader's attention!

One more admission - this one is embarrassing.  I have to pretend that the Memoir is fantastic! Beautifully written! But I wrote it myself.  But I have to claim this is true for the good of the story.  To the extent it isn't fantastic or beautifully written is my fault, and not AU John's fault!

So, in this first chapter, we meet some new characters, and we go through AU John's anxiety about his newest creative project.

WARNINGS:  This is ENTIRELY FICTION.  Even if there are some historical events included, the story itself is ENTIRELY FICTIONAL.  Just so we have that set.  This is NOT REALLY JOHN'S MEMOIR.  LOL.  Oh - and this is a Slash AU, so if that's not your thing, you probably shouldn't read this.  This particular chapter is PG-13.

Too Much Rain, Chapter 155

THIS IS THE FINALE OF TOO MUCH RAIN. If you read it carefully, you will find the seeds of the new series I will start next.  This one is a mushy and happy one, following all of the angst that preceded it.  :)

WARNINGS:  THIS IS ALL FICTION - but it's all love.  :)

Too Much Rain, Chapter 151

Posting a few days early because I am very proud of myself, being now 8 to 10 stories ahead.  Goes to show, after a dry spell there can be a nice long wet season.  :)  Of course, whether they are any good or not - well, y'all will be the judges!

In this chapter, our beloved George Harrison meets with his three former band mates in the hospital, and a little organized chaos ensues.

WARNINGS:  This is a sad one.  With some foreshadowing. ALSO THIS IS ALL FICTION.

WARNINGS: This is slash fiction, with a few intimate moments.  There are some real elements, but the story itself is pure FICTION.

Too Much Rain, Chapter 149

In this chapter, John and Paul face some of the realities of John's disclosures, and also some of the consequences.  And even as the gossip is growing, events are in play that will wipe John and Paul off the front pages.

Hope you enjoy - this is FICTION, with only a few current events that are real thrown in for good measure.
